I couldn’t put down Wanda Brunstetter’s book Woman of Courage. I really enjoyed every minute of the story. Set in 1837 Amanda Pearson has been jilted by her fiancé on the day of her wedding. Her father and she decide to embark on a journey across the country to be missionaries to the Nez Perce Indians. Along the way she is faced with many tragedies and trials. Amanda’s courage must prevail. Amanda makes new friends along her journey including Mary who also proves to be very courageous.I love genealogy and I think that is why I love historical novels set in the 1800s and early 1900s. I often imagine what it must have been like for those early settlers as they crossed over the mountains. How it must have been a treacherous journey. Mrs. Brunstetter brought this journey to life and I could imagine my early ancestors embarking on such trips as some of them were Quakers. I loved the characters in her novel they were so colorful. I found myself riding along through the trails along with the sights and smells. Some parts made me sad others made me laugh. I loved the Christian message and love that was portrayed throughout.
If you love historical novels with a Christian theme you will love this novel. I received this book at no charge from Handlebar Publishing in exchange for an honest review.

I loved this book from page 1! I couldn't put it down. It constantly held my interest. Have always loved this author!
Loved the book and it's message. Only those that accept Christ can truly forgive others and live in His peace.
This book had a good plot, but it took too long to get into. The only reason why I kept at it was because I live and work on an Indian reservation, and the plot interested me. The characters are a little hard to believe sometimes. It was ok, but just didn't hold my interest very well.
Wanda has become one of my favorite authors and this book was one I could hardly put down. Her faith shows through all of her books and allows me to see different views on ways that I believe! I Just noticed that this was posted as a review. Not true. This was from the paper back version purchased through . While I am somewhat enjoying my newly purchased , I still prefer holding the book in my hand and turning the pages!
Although this book is marked a Christian book, it just has a few prayers she says in it. Many trials of trouble= men, love, marriage, relationships, family, gun fights. It is "the old west". A good read, especially if you like the old west. The author did a fantastic job of weaving all this together! If my review has helped you, please click "yes".
New York Best-Selling Author, Wanda E. Brunstetter bids us to come along on Amanda Pearson's journey who decides to pour her heart and passion into ministering among the Nez Perce' Indians after losing out on love. It takes all of Amanda's Quaker faith to have the courage to achieve her task among those who are reluctant to hear. The journey is dangerous and keeps the reader on the edge of their seat. For me, the experience was so exciting that I read the book twice. I was given the great priviledge of reading this book for Handlebar Publishing in exchange for my thoughts. This book lands on the list of my favorites and I highly recommend.
Amanda is a strong character but she didn't start out that way. On a long voyage from New York to Oregon Territory, the young Quaker woman meets with difficult circumstances. Her father who is accompanying her dies, then her guide is killed in an accident leaving Amanda stranded, not knowing which way to go. Her strong faith and some good friends she meets along the way help her to meet her ultimate goal. Her plan is to teach the Nez Pierce Indians how to read and write so they can read the Bible. She tries to convert everyone she meets. The tension built up because of accidents and illness were believable as during this time period, people died of sometimes simple mistakes. Amanda's strength and determination grows throughout the story which helps her make an important decision. The happy ending is an easy conclusion for the reader but happy endings are expected in a story such as this.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Barbour Publishing and was under no obligation to post a review.
What a journey in time. I was not sure who this book was going to be. But as I said what a journey. Heart brake , sorrow , and courage . A young women's journey to woman hood. This book was a great read. Wanda Brunstetter has once again opened our eyes to the past and allowed us to travel there. Thank you.
